This category covers any instruments available as a piece of software, rather than only in hardware form. Most articles linked here only cover the software version, however in some cases the software emulates a particular synthesizer well enough to be included as a footnote in an article about a hardware unit, where the software is a foot note rather than its own article.
 
It is highly recommended for article editors that they include either a clear sub-section in the article detailing the software version to make it easier for readers to find that information, if it is not its own article already.
