The Yamaha MU90 is a Yamaha XG and General MIDI sound module in the Yamaha MU series, introduced by Yamaha in 1996. It improves upon the preceding MU80 by adding 9 new drumkits, 49 new normal instruments, a second insert effect unit, and greatly improving the variety of insert effect types (the MU80's insert effect unit was limited to distortion, overdrive and 3-band EQ).
Variants
Yamaha MU90R
A full-width rack-mount version of the MU90; the feature set is almost identical, except that the MU90R has additional audio outputs that parts can be individually routed to.
Yamaha MU90B [5]
A simplified version of the MU90, which removes the front-panel controls and replaces the screen with three LEDs. Otherwise, it is identical to the MU90 in size, weight and features.
