The Yamaha MU90 and Yamaha MU90R are Yamaha XG and General MIDI sound modules in the Yamaha MU series introduced by Yamaha in 1996. The MU90 is a half-width desktop module like previous MU series models, whereas the MU90 is a full-width rack-mount version; the feature set is almost identical, except that the MU90R has additional audio outputs that parts can be individually routed to.

The MU90 and MU90R improve upon the preceding MU80 by adding 9 new drumkits, 49 new normal instruments, a second insert effect unit, and replacing the distortion effect unit with two independent insert effect units, both of which can do a wider variety of effects than just distortion.
